Stallkamp widens its horizon by travelling with DLG to Saudi Arabia. The world biggest dairy farm was one of the highlights of the tour in October 2017.

The journey started with a meeting of the German delegation, SAGIA and the Ministry for Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) in order to discuss about future developments. The focus was on the Saudi Vision 2030 where Saudi Arabia declared its future objectives. It was agreed that a new meeting in 2018 would help to participate in the development.

The visit at the world biggest dairy farms highlighted the trip. Almarai, Al Safi and NADEC are farms outstanding in the world. With 104,500 milking cows, Almarai is the biggest Farm in the world. This farm can serve 52,000 customers with milk every day. "The cleanliness and perfect management of the farms are really impressive!" clarifies Benjamin Budde, Head of Sales at Stallkamp. Animal welfare and hygienic standards are necessary to run the farms successfully. With regard to environmental aspects, the liquid manure is used for compost production. For other renewable energies, a potential for solar, biomass, manure management etc. were seen and lively conversations for improvements evolved.

At the end of the journey the German delegation gained insight of the egg production at the farm Faylag with 600,000 layer hens. Again the Germans were impressed by the cleanliness and organisation at Saudi Arabic agriculture plants.

The last stop before returning to Germany, was the Kingdom Tower which offers a beautiful view over the skyline of Riyadh.
